We are looking for a Senior Social Media Strategist to join our rapidly growing marketing team. You’ll lead our social media and community teams, focusing specifically on increasing the size of our digital audience through data-driven experimentation and optimization. You’ll scale both organic and paid audience growth and also work closely with our content team to improve our understanding of our audience’s wants and needs.

This is a high-impact position that’s integral to Gusto’s organic growth over the next few years. We’re looking for an established marketer who has had breakout success on social platforms using content-driven strategies. If you’re adept at developing and scaling viral social content in order to drive real business impact, this one’s for you!

Here's what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Drive the growth of an enormous digital audience for Gusto by developing innovative, best-in-class strategies for all social and community platforms
  • Own aggressive KPIs related to audience growth, including increase in followers and engagement, and improvement in content clickthrough
  • Manage a robust paid distribution budget with a performance-marketing mindset, constantly optimizing to achieve the best results 
  • Manage and mentor individual contributors dedicated to social media and community
  • Develop and foster a culture of data-driven experimentation and optimization, including the creation and distribution of weekly and monthly reports
  • Identify emerging platforms and trends that Gusto can proactively “own” over its competitors
  • Play a role in providing counsel to senior company leadership, when appropriate, about key social media trends as they relate to small businesses
  • Manage all third-party social media vendor, agency, and/or tool contracts and relationships
  • Create and maintain a social media “best practices” manual and ensure all team members model and share it

Here's what we're looking for: 

  • 5-7 years managing social media platforms and communities, preferably for a publisher or a brand relevant to small businesses  
  • Breakout success in growing audiences and creating viral, highly-engaged social media campaigns
  • Experience with advanced social media analytics
  • A data-driven mindset, with a performance-marketing instinct, and a proven track record for meeting goals
  • Experience managing high-growth teams
  • Enthusiasm for aggressive goals and the willingness to go the extra mile to achieve them
